Special Issue Call for Papers: Hydrogels in Biomedical Engineering

We invite you to submit your paper for consideration to the Bioactive Composites special issue before 30 July 2017.

Hydrogels are three-dimensional polymeric networks formed from hydrophilic homopolymers, copolymers, or macromers crosslinked to form insoluble polymer matrices that can retain a large amount of water. Due to their excellent biocompatibility, compliant elasticity, flexible methods of synthesis, versatile constituents, and desirable physiochemical functions, hydrogels may be engineered into different modalities such as nanoparticles, scaffolds, fibers, and coatings and can resemble the extracellular environment of the body’s tissues. Thus, hydrogels have been widely used in a number of biomedical applications such as tissue engineering, drug delivery, cancer nanotechnology, and device coatings. In this special issue titled “hydrogels in biomedical engineering”, we aim to present the recent advances in novel hydrogel design and their applications in biomedical and biological fields. This special issue welcomes original research as well as review articles that elucidate the interactions or structure-function relationship between hydrogels and living biological systems including cells and tissues.
