Special Issue on Mechanical Behaviour of Biological Tissues

Published 08 June, 2021

Mechanical behaviour of biological tissues is a multidisciplinary and rapidly expanding area of research. An understanding of the structure-mechanics relationships in biological tissues can enhance quality of life, knowledge of injury mechanisms, and the development of new medical treatments and procedures, along with better mitigation and protection solutions in civil/military applications.

This special issue will feature the latest science on mechanical deformation, damage and failure of biological tissues or surrogates under applied forces. Reports of fundamental scientific investigations are welcome, as are technical notes concerned with emerging experimental or theoretical techniques.

Topics Covered:

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Experimental investigation of mechanical behaviour of biological tissues
  • Mechanics of biological tissues under extreme conditions and trauma
  • New computational models of biological tissues
  • New constitutive models of biological tissues
  • Applications of analytical methods to predict the mechanical behaviour of biological tissues
  • Machine learning approaches to modelling biological tissues

Important Deadlines:

  • Submission deadline: 30 June 2022
  • Expected published issue: Volume 18 Issue 12 December 2022

Submission Instructions:

Please read the Guide for Authors before submitting. All articles should be submitted online; please select SI: Mechanical Behaviour of Biological Tissues on submission.
