Intelligent Pervasive Computing Systems for Personalized Healthcare

Published 11 June, 2019

In the modern era of computing, the biomedical engineering and informatics plays an important role on healthcare. With the availability of potential computing and medical resource everywhere, there is a great scope towards health consciousness and healthy society. Consequently, pervasive computing paradigm offers tremendous advantages/contributions in diversified research areas in healthcare and technology and hence this special issue has focused on healthcare computing through bio-sensors. In all reams of our daily lives, computers are integrated through bio-sensors and generate huge information which creates challenges to our ability on processing enormous bio-informatics data. It will be transforming a meaningful knowledge, especially patient information, medical diagnosis, monitoring and tracking management on health issues, assisting physicians for clinical decision, early detection of health infectious, disease prevention, rapid analysis on health hazards and so on.

In this special issue we seek to provide state of the art of intelligence paradigms on pervasive computing with respect to healthcare through bio-sensors for desirable intelligent outcomes. The pervasive computational support devotes for an e-health applications to enable optimization of medical assessment for a healthy, authentic, safer and more productive efficient environment. We assure that the research outcomes and integration of pervasive system in health care system would enhance the researchers to excel and explore future trends in this domain. Due to rapid growth and advancement of e-health, responsive systems are used therewith generating a huge volume of data in a variety of formats, especially health care data in bio-medical engineering.  The primary focus and feature is to address the following research gaps which would be significant impact to this special issue: (a) limited studies have addressed on intelligent pervasive health care systems, (b) e-health via bio-sensors hasn’t addressed in depth from the perspective of smarter health care systems. Further, it is imperative to note that fusion of pervasive computing, bio-sensors for e-health has not been adequately investigated from the perspective of smarter health care system in bio-medical engineering and its related research issues. Obviously, these challenges also create immense opportunities for researchers. We cordially invite investigators to contribute their original research articles, with an emphasis on real-life applications, as well as review articles that will stimulate further activities in this area and improve our understanding of the key scientific problems.
