Clean Alternative Fuels for Transport Vehicles

In road transport sector, using clean alternative fuels is an effective way to improve energy efficiency and reduce pollutant emission. Clean alternative fuels include natural gas (NG), alcohols, biofuels, ethers, etc. The application mode is complicated. For instance, NG can be applied on vehicles by sole fuel mode, NG/gasoline bi-fuel mode, and NG/diesel dual fuel mode. Application modes, fuels and their blending ratios, as well as the strategies of combustion organization have remarkably different effects on efficiencies and emissions.

Issues on fuel reforming, spray and atomization quality, combustion organization and optimization, and emission control are particularly important. Accordingly, developing advanced technologies and innovative methods are crucial to achieve the energy diversification for vehicles.

“Clean alternative fuels for transport vehicles” is a Special Issue for those who would like to publish original papers presenting important results of work in the field. The works can be applied research, development of new algorithms or components, original application of existing knowledge, etc.

The topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Spray, combustion and emission characteristics of clean alternative fuels
  • Emission control and aftertreatment technologies
  • Applied research on natural gas, alcohols, esters and ethers
