Special Issue on Advanced Functional and Hybrid Structures for Electrochemical and Optical Sensors

Published 26 February, 2021

Electrochemical and optical sensors are crucial to understanding the world of chemicals and biologicals, which, in turn, are valuable tools for monitoring the environment and human health. Recently, the focus of research in this field has shifted to the development of electrochemical/optical sensors using nano/hybrid materials as basic sensing materials or transducers. These materials not only augment the sensitivity, specificity, and portability of the sensors, but also elevate the stability of the sensing platform to work in extreme environmental conditions.

In general, the extraordinary optical, electrochemical, electrical, surface and structural properties of nanomaterials make them ideal candidates for the fabrication of efficient sensors. Moreover, the real life applicability of nanosensors has been improved by smartphone-enabled signal interpretation.  In fact, nanotechnology can support sensitive, specific, and portable/wearable sensors for multi analyte analysis in diverse fields.

This special issue is mainly focused on advanced nanomaterials and hybrid structures for electrochemical and optical sensors. We welcome novel, high-quality research articles, review articles, short communications and letters.
