Special Issue on Graphene-Based, High-Performance Sensors

Published 22 April, 2021

Graphene has attracted significant scientific and translational attention for its role in the development of high-performance, opto-electronic systems in recent years. This is largely due to its superior and manipulative properties; for example, high surface-to-volume ratio, desired functionality, green synthesis, bio-acceptability, chemical stability and high electron transfer ability. While its role in the fabrication of miniaturized sensors has been explored, there is still a need to develop graphene-based materials that will support the next generation of sensors for advanced biological applications.

This special issue will present novel, high-quality and original articles on graphene-based nanomaterials and composites and their use in advanced sensor device applications. We welcome research studies, reviews, short communications and perspectives. Each research paper should be original and include a demonstration of the performance of a functional material or device. We are also interested in scale-up studies and research on fabrication processes and other practical issues related with the viable production or application of these materials.

Topics Covered:

  • Novel approaches to developing graphene nanostructures
  • Graphene-based chemical sensors
  • Graphene-based biosensors for health care
  • Graphene-based wearable sensors
  • 3D printed graphene-based composites
  • Graphene-based smart sensors
  • Graphene-assisted field-effect transistor (FET) biosensors
