Since launch we have received 28 submissions, 11 of them were from China and 17 international.

The first issue includes one editorial, one foreword, 3 research articles and 4 reviews. The editorial was written by the Editor-in-Chief Professor Daqing Li from University of Pennsylvania, USA. He reviewed the history of otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery, looked at future development of this discipline, and at the same time expressed his great expectations for the new journal. WJOHNS will be a journal with international influence and will become an international communication platform for the global community.

The foreword was written by Professor Charles W. Cummings, affiliated in Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. Professor Cummings edited the book series Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, a classic series of text books in America and all over the world, which are considered “the bible” in otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery. In the foreword, Professor Cummings indicated that - the globalization of scientific knowledge is inevitable, and medical advances must be shared globally. So WJOHNS aims to provide a communication platform for global researchers in the field of otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery.
