Call for Participation: International Workshop on Geoheritage, Parks, and Nature Conservation

The International Workshop on Geoheritage, Parks, and Nature Conservation, hosted by the Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University, will take place in Beijing, China from November 7–8, 2025.

Supported by the International Journal of Geoheritage and Parks, the workshop provides a platform for researchers in related fields to share the latest findings, exchange emerging ideas, and foster international collaboration. It aims to improve our understanding of geoheritage and parks from an ecological, geographical, and geological perspective to provide tools and strategies for nature conservation in the context of global change. The event supports broader goals such as the construction of Ecological Civilization and a Shared Future for All Life on Earth.

Selected high-quality papers will be recommended for publication in the International Journal of Geoheritage and Parks (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/international-journal-of-geoheritage-and-parks).

II. Themes

The workshop covers the following three key themes associated with geoheritage and parks.

(I) Ecological Conservation

  1. Ecosystems in protected areas and the response to global change
  2. Theories and methods for biodiversity conservation in protected areas
  3. Urban parks and their ecological conservation use

(II)Geological Conservation

  1. Geoheritage inventories and their use in nature conservation, geoheritage and sustainable resource use
  2. Geoheritage used for resilience and disaster reduction

(III) Management and application

  1. Design and management of protected areas
  2. Construction and development of national park
  3. Artificial intelligence and national parks
  4. Tourism and nature education in protected areas

V. Call for Abstracts

  • Interested participants are invited to submit an abstract by September 10, 2025, to: geoparkworkshop@bnu.edu.cn. The abstract should include a title, author(s), and affiliation(s), and briefly summarize the research content and key results. The word count should not exceed 300 words. The abstract should be written in English. Please indicate whether you wish to give an oral or poster

VI. Registration

There is NO REGISTRATION FEE. However, participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.

The International Journal of Geoheritage and Parks is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal committed to advancing high-quality research in geoheritage and parks across various dimensions, including:
