Special Issue on Valorisation of Wastes, Residues and Bioresources with the use of Enzyme and Microbial Technology

已发布 12 十一月, 2020

Our society currently faces the twin challenges of resource depletion and waste accumulation. This is leading to rapidly escalating raw material costs and increasingly expensive and restrictive waste disposal legislation. The processes used in the global food and drink industry alone generate food supply chain wastes on a multi-ton scale every year. Enzyme and microbial technology has much to offer in relation to the treatment and valorisation of these materials; for example, microbial products of (potentially very high) added-value, such as organic acids, polyols, enzymes, or microbial lipids, are amenable to be converted into second generation biofuels. This special issue will explore the important role that enzyme and microbial technology can play in combating resource depletion and waste accumulation.

Topics covered

  • Microbial fermentations
  • Enzymatic bioprocesses
  • Biochemical conversions
  • Bioprocess engineering
  • Lignocellulosic compounds
  • Food and agro-industrial wastes
  • Biofuels

Important Deadlines:

  • Submission deadline: 31 July 2021

Submission Instructions:

Please read the Guide for Authors before submitting. All articles should be submitted online; please select ‘SI: Valorisation of wastes’ on submission. Authors should specify that they are submitting to the special issue in their cover letter. All submitted papers will be subjected to our standard, independent peer review.
