Special Issue on Accident Tolerant Fuels (ATF)

已发布 09 十月, 2020

Accident tolerant fuels (ATF), have been pursued worldwide since the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011. These are expected to enhance reactor safety when accidents occur, especially for design-basis and beyond-design-basis accident scenarios.

Currently, several cladding solutions are proposed, such as coated Zircolay, FeCrAl, and SiC. In addition, pellet designs with enhanced performance are being explored, including doped fuel, composite fuel, high conductivity and density fuel (e.g. UN, U3Si2), and fully ceramic microencapsulated fuel.

Topics covered:

This special issue focuses on state-of-the-art advances for ATFs which may contribute to its final deployment, including:

  • Experimental data
  • Modelling and simulation tools development
  • Application of ATF technologies

Important Deadlines:

  • Submission deadline: 25 December 2020

Submission Instructions:

Please read the Guide for Authors before submitting. All articles should be submitted online –, please select Accident Tolerant Fuels (ATF) on submission.
