Special issue on emerging materials for carbon neutrality

已发布 23 八月, 2021

To address pressing global energy and environmental problems, and realise a sustainable future for our planet, most countries are now targeting carbon (climate) neutrality. To achieve this target, exploring and developing green energy will be crucial, including the novel and disruptive science and technologies associated with clean energy sources, energy storage and energy conversion. Various emerging materials (e.g., 2D materials, open framework materials) are exhibiting promising potential in every field of the carbon-neutral energy cycle.

This special issue will feature papers that explore emerging materials for clean energy applications from a variety of perspectives, including materials synthesis, mechanism analysis, device design and performance evaluation. We welcome full articles, communications, perspectives and reviews from the fields of chemistry, physics, materials science and mechanical engineering. We also welcome interdisciplinary papers.

Topics covered:

  • Emerging functional materials, e.g., perovskite
  • Two-dimensional materials, e.g., graphene, Mxene
  • Open framework materials, e.g., metal-organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks, metal-organic cages
  • Rechargeable secondary ion batteries
  • Metal batteries
  • Electrochemical capacitors
  • Electrocatalysis
  • Photocatalysis
  • Gas (or carbon) capture, separation and storage
  • Other carbon (climate) neutrality-related topics

Important deadlines:

  • Submission deadline: 30 June 2022
