Epidemic Modeling – Special Issue in Memory of Pierre Magal

Introduction:
Professor Pierre Magal, an internationally renowned researcher and leader at the interface of differential equations, functional analysis and mathematical biology, passed away suddenly on February 20, 2024. Throughout his career, he made fundamental contributions in the modeling of various infectious diseases, the analysis of epidemic models, and the calibration of related data. We dedicate this special issue to Prof Pierre Magal to honor his contribution and lasting legacy.
Topics covered:
- Developing new models, theories and methods to characterize various infectious diseases;
- Applying existing models and methodologies to study emerging infectious diseases; and
- Linking modeling, analysis and data to design control measures for certain infectious diseases.
