TMA Express: Short Format, Rapid-Review Research Articles

Published 18 June, 2019

What is a TMA Express article?

TMA Express is a short format, rapid-review research article that reports on novel findings of high interest in basic or translational aging research. In some cases, a timely scientific perspective on a topical issue of controversy or exceptional interest to the geroscience community could be appropriate for a TMA Express.

TMA Express guidance

  • Articles should not exceed 1,500 words.
  • Typically a single figure or table is required. At most, the article should contain two display items.
  • You should begin with a brief (2-3 sentence) paragraph summarising the take-home message of the article. This replaces the abstract.
  • The body of the article will not have separate sections for the Introduction, Results and Discussion.
  • Detailed methods may be provided as Supplemental Information (SI), but no additional data may be included in the SI.

TMA Express manuscripts that fail to meet these criteria will be returned to authors. Submissions are typically reviewed with decisions made available in no more than two weeks.
