The quality characters include not only the appearance quality such as size, shape, color, but also the internal quality such as aroma, flavor, texture, etc., which are the most concerned agronomic characters of consumers and directly determine their commodity value.

Recently, more and more omics and molecular biology techniques are extensively used to study the quality of product organs such as color, aroma, flavor, etc. The formation and regulation of important quality characters of horticultural plants have made important progress.
