#AI reads Urine# Urinary Cell-Free DNA detection platform for bacterial cystitis diagnosis via spot-based machine learning
Published 08 January, 2026
This research developed a novel diagnostic platform combining fluorescence imaging and machine learning for the rapid and accurate diagnosis of bacterial cystitis. The platform uses specially treated slides to enrich and visualize urinary cell-free DNA within 20 minutes, and an algorithm analyzes the size distribution patterns of the fluorescent spots—finding that bacterial infections are dominated by small spots, while non-bacterial inflammation is characterized by large spots. In clinical testing, this technology achieved an overall diagnostic accuracy of 94.43% without complex pre-processing, significantly outperforming traditional methods and offering a new solution for point-of-care precision diagnosis.
