Advances in Polar Science (APS) is an international, peer-reviewed journal published quarterly. The journal is a fully open-access journal aiming to serve as a platform for scientists, engineers and policymakers to share innovative research and perspectives on the Arctic and Antarctic. APS is dedicated to present multi-disciplinary achievement in polar research. The primary objective of APS is to publish achievements in fundamental and applied research focused or based on the polar regions, and to report the latest discoveries, inventions, technologies, theories and methodologies in polar research.

APS welcomes submissions from various disciplines, including natural science, engineering and social sciences, to enhance a comprehensive understanding of the polar regions. The scope of the APS includes, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Antarctic astronomy/meteoritics

  • atmospheric science/climatology

  • biology and ecology

  • cryospheric science/glaciology

  • environmental science
