AWE Best Student Paper Award Recipients Announced at CWE2026
Published 29 June, 2026
Advances in Wind Engineering (AWE) presented its third AWE Best Student Paper Award at the 8th International Symposium on Computational Wind Engineering (CWE2026), held from June 7–11, 2026, at Western University, Canada—following previous editions at the 15th Americas Conference on Wind Engineering and the 10th Asia-Pacific Conference on Wind Engineering.
The award competition, part of AWE's efforts to encourage and support young researchers in wind engineering, concluded successfully on June 11, 2026. From 105 submissions worldwide, three winners and five honorable mentions were selected based on the scientific rigor, innovation, engineering relevance, and presentation quality of their work—showcasing the outstanding potential and creativity of the next generation in wind engineering.
Selection Process
The award is open to master's and PhD students globally. The evaluation combined initial full-paper review and on-site presentation evaluation at CWE2026.
Thirty early-career AWE editorial board members reviewed the 105 submissions across 10 technical areas. Each paper was scored independently by three reviewers. The top 10 submissions advanced to the final round for on-site presentation at CWE2026.
Eleven leading wind engineering experts assessed finalists' presentations and Q&A performance at CWE2026. The final rankings were determined by combining scores from the initial review and the on-site presentation.
