Aims
Aquatic Diversity and Ecology is a peer-reviewed, international and interdisciplinary research journal that aims to establish a premier international and interdisciplinary forum dedicated to advancing the integrated study of aquatic biodiversity and ecosystem processes. The journal seeks to address critical challenges in biodiversity conservation, ecological sustainability, and ecosystem service management by fostering innovation that bridges traditional ecology with cutting-edge technological and molecular approaches.
Scope
The journal publishes high-quality original research, reviews, case studies, and method-oriented articles that connect fundamental ecological questions with advanced analytical tools in aquatic environments. Core areas include, but are not limited to:
Aquatic Biodiversity Research: Patterns, processes, and responses to global change.
Aquatic Ecosystem Functions: Mechanisms, monitoring, and sustainable use.
eDNA and Environmental Omics: Applications of eDNA, metagenomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics.
Smart Waters and Digital Ecology: Innovations in remote sensing, modeling, big data analytics, and intelligent monitoring.
Ecological Restoration and practice: Science-based case studies, assessments, and solutions for ecosystem recovery.
Open Data and Methods: High-value datasets, long-term monitoring archives, novel algorithms, and reproducible protocols.

The Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is China’s only comprehensive academic research institution specializing in the studies of life processes of inland aquatic organisms, ecological environment protection and utilization of biological resources. IHB aims to satisfy the country’s strategic demands for water environment protection, fishery sustainable development and microalgal biotechnology. Meantime, IHB endeavors to increase and extend the values created by these innovations and breakthroughs, and plays an irreplaceable role in water environment protection, freshwater fishery and microalgal biotechnology.
