The Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) was founded in 1956 and it has since become a leading chemical research institution in China. ICCAS enjoys a strong international reputation in both fundamental and interdisciplinary research. The Institute has major strengths in polymer science, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and inorganic chemistry, while also advances frontier research at the interfaces of chemistry with life sciences, materials, environment, and energy. In recent years, ICCAS has achieved internationally recognized achievements in molecular and nanoscale science, polymer and functional materials, chemical biology, and energy and green chemistry, demonstrating both strong original innovation capacity and the ability to address major national needs.

ICCAS provides a powerful institutional foundation for the Chemistry of Life Materials. The Institute hosts two national research centers, five institute-level research centers, and twelve laboratories, supported by advanced platforms in analytical testing, molecular devices, polymer science and materials, and molecular imaging. Notably, one of the institute-level centers, the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Chemical Life and Health Sciences, is dedicated to research at the interface of chemistry and life/health sciences, closely aligning with the mission and scope of the journal.

With its outstanding scientific strengths, advanced research infrastructure, and extensive academic network, ICCAS is uniquely well positioned to support the journal as a high-quality international platform at the interface of chemistry and life-related materials.
