Chinese Welding Society (CWS) is a national, non-profit academic organization dedicated to the welding discipline. As a professional branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, it was established in 1962 and ranks among China’s earliest-founded academic organizations. As the sole representative of China’s welding community in the International Institute of Welding (IIW), CWS has a core mission to advance the development of advanced welding science and technology in China. Since joining IIW in 1964, CWS has long served as a bridge for international academic exchanges, establishing stable cooperative relationships with international organizations such as the American Welding Society (AWS) to facilitate cross-border technological collaboration.
Harbin Welding Institute Company (HWI) of China Machinery Science & Technology Group was founded in 1956. Originally a public institution directly under the former Ministry of Machinery Industry, it is a national-level scientific research institute with the strongest comprehensive scientific and technological strength in welding technology research and engineering application in China.
China Welding Association (CWA), founded in Beijing in May 1987, is a national first-class (Level 4A) industrial organization. With over 1,500 institutional members covering welding-related enterprises, research institutes and institutions of higher education, CWA’s core services include technical exchange, professional training, and the formulation and promotion of industry standards. Additionally, it serves as a bridge for communication between the government and enterprises, advancing technological progress and standardized development in the industry, facilitating industrial upgrading, and enhancing the international competitiveness of China’s welding industry.
