Special Issue on Electricity-Hydrogen Coupling and Advanced Energy Storage Technologies for New-Type Power Systems

Published 05 January, 2026

Driven by the "Dual Carbon" strategic goals, building a new power system dominated by renewable energy has become the core of the energy transition. To address the intermittency and volatility challenges of renewable energy sources like wind and solar, it is crucial to deepen research on electricity-hydrogen coupling technologies and advanced energy storage. Electricity-hydrogen coupling achieves cross-temporal and spatial energy transfer through "green power for hydrogen production - hydrogen storage - hydrogen power generation," while advanced energy storage technologies can provide fast and flexible power support. Their synergy is key to enhancing system security and economy.

To this end, Global Energy Interconnection has invited Professor Shen Xiaojun, Department Head of Electrical Engineering at Tongji University, and Professor Shi Le, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, to serve as Guest Editors-in-Chief. They will organize a special issue for the February 2026 edition, titled "Electricity-Hydrogen Coupling and Advanced Energy Storage Technologies for New Power Systems". We sincerely invite submissions from scholars worldwide.
