Special issue on transitions towards a circular economy
Published 22 December, 2021
Society is currently seeking solutions to a range of grand challenges. Pressing concerns include climate change mitigation, better health and nutrition, and clean water sources. But to bring about change, we must adapt our current ways of working; for example, think about the resources used to produce goods and services, and waste management. The circular economy has an important role to play here. This model of production and consumption focuses on sustainability by promoting the reuse of existing materials and products for as long as possible.
This special issue welcomes papers that study the circular economy from the perspective of transitions – particularly energy, technology and health transitions. Manuscripts should consider the full value chain when evaluating transitions, for example, the decarbonisation of the built environment and the industry sector, food production, waste reduction, recycling and reuse. We are interested in receiving original research articles, review articles, perspective papers or short communications.
