Special Issue on Rehabilitation and Development of Mining Regions

Introduction:
This special issue highlights key advances in developing a shared understanding of sustainable mine legacy management, as well as new strategies, governance structures, and management approaches aimed at enhancing post-mining practices within the circular economy.

- Background and motivation for focusing on mining waste
- Current challenges in mining waste management and circular economy
- Rehabilitation and development— a theoretical approach
- Mining regions in the world—an overview
- Strategies for tackling the problems of mining regions
- General legal and special regulations
- Rehabilitation by state-owned enterprises
- Major ecological projects and exemption of investors from risks
- Support for rehabilitation and development in federal/regional/local levels
This special issue welcomes submissions featuring laboratory or theoretical studies, post-mining research and applications, as well as work focused on the rehabilitation and development of mining regions. Contributions highlighting the best practices in these areas are also encouraged. We invite scientists and researchers from diverse fields to submit their manuscripts, with a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary approaches.
