Human-Earth Interaction is an interdisciplinary scholarly journal dedicated to understanding the dynamic relationships between human societies and the Earth system across local, regional, and global scales under the spatiotemporal patterns of the Anthropocene and the "Human-Earth Sphere". The journal publishes high-quality research examining how human activity shapes environmental processes - and how environmental change, in turn, influences economies, cultures, governance, technology, health, and social systems. The journal aims to bridge traditionally separated disciplines including environmental science, geography, sustainability studies, climate science, ecology, economics, engineering, urban studies, rural areal system, anthropology, political science, public policy, data science, and Earth system modeling.
Human-Earth Interaction publishes original research, reviews, perspectives, and policy-relevant studies exploring the dynamic relationships between humans and the Earth system across local, regional, and global scales. The journal focuses on understanding how human activities influence environmental processes and how Earth system changes affect societies, economies, cultures, and governance. It encourages integrative approaches that bridge the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, engineering, and policy studies.
The journal welcomes contributions in areas including, but not limited to:
