Medicine Discovery is a peer-reviewed, international, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality translational medical research that bridges mechanistic discovery and clinical implementation. The journal aims to accelerate the transformation of biomedical insights into clinical practice by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across basic science, clinical medicine, engineering, and data science. It prioritizes studies with strong reproducibility, external validation, and real-world applicability, particularly those capable of informing clinical decision-making, healthcare policy, and regulatory frameworks. The journal also promotes open science practices, including data and code sharing, replication studies, and the reporting of negative or neutral results.
This journal contains five sections:
Section A: Mechanisms and Systems Medicine
This section focuses on mechanistic and systems-level insights into disease biology with clear translational relevance. It encompasses molecular and cellular processes, tumor microenvironment and immunoregulation, metabolic reprogramming, host–pathogen interactions, and integrative multi-omics approaches, including single-cell and spatial technologies that advance understanding of disease complexity and heterogeneity.
Section B: Translational and Clinical Research
This section publishes studies that translate biological discoveries into clinical applications, including prospective clinical trials, real-world evidence studies, and biomarker-driven investigations. Emphasis is placed on patient stratification, precision medicine, multicenter validation, and research that directly informs clinical practice, guideline development, and therapeutic strategies.
Section C: Digital Medicine and Data-Driven Healthcare
This section highlights the development and clinical integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in medicine. It covers medical imaging, digital pathology, predictive modeling, and data-driven decision systems, with particular attention to explainability, validation, benchmarking, and real-world deployment of computational tools in healthcare settings.
Section D: Therapeutic Innovation and Biomedical Engineering
This section focuses on innovative therapeutic strategies and engineering approaches with translational potential, including medical devices, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, and advanced drug delivery systems. Studies are expected to demonstrate clear clinical relevance and pathways toward implementation.
Section E: Methodology, Standards, and Implementation Science
This section emphasizes methodological rigor, reproducibility, and the translation of evidence into practice. It includes advances in study design, statistical methods, reporting standards, and data governance, as well as research on health technology assessment, regulatory science, and healthcare system implementation that enables the adoption of new medical innovations.
