Published 30 April, 2026

To commemorate the 110th anniversary of Prof. Wu Cheng-Yi and the 100th anniversary of Prof. Tang Yan-Cheng—two pioneers of Chinese plant systematics and floristics— Plant Diversity is launching a special issue on "Origins and Evolution of Chinese Flora: A Global Perspective".

Led by Prof. Hang Sun, Prof. Zhiduan Chen, Prof. Zhekun Zhou, and Prof. Jun Wen, this special issue focuses on the origin, evolution, and biogeography of the Chinese flora, phylogenetic relationships and adaptive diversification of key lineages, global connections and historical migration patterns, as well as conservation and sustainable use of plant diversity in China.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and perspectives on the topics below:

  • Origin, evolution, and biogeography of Chinese flora;
  • Phylogenetics, diversification, and adaptation of key lineages;
  • Global connections and historical migration of the Chinese flora;
  • Conservation and sustainable use of plant diversity.

We look forward to your submissions to advance global floristic studies and to honor the scientific legacy of Prof. Wu Cheng-Yi and Prof. Tang Yan-Cheng.

The special issue is scheduled to be published in Plant Diversity, Volume 48.
