Feng's research focuses on the evolution of sedimentary basins and mountain belts and their interactions with Earth’s climate system. Feng integrates tectonics, sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochronology, basin analysis, and paleoclimate records to reconstruct basin development, mountain-belt exhumation, and topographic growth. Through this interdisciplinary approach, Feng aims to clarify how tectonic processes, surface erosion, sediment transport, and climate change influence one another across different spatial and temporal scales. His current research centers on two closely related themes. The first examines the interactions among mountain building, landscape evolution, erosion, sedimentation, and climate. The second investigates terrestrial environmental responses to major climatic events and transitions, including the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum, the Eocene–Oligocene Transition, and Plio–Pleistocene cooling. As an Associate Editor, Feng is committed to supporting rigorous and innovative research that advances understanding of tectonic, sedimentary, and climatic processes and their interconnections.
