Junsheng Nie

Junsheng Nie was born in November 1978. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physical Geography from Lanzhou University (2000, 2003) and his Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island (2008). After a postdoc at the University of Texas at Austin (2008–2010), he joined Lanzhou University in 2010 and now serves as Dean of the School of Earth Sciences. He holds the titles of Changjiang Distinguished Professor and Chief Scientist of a National Key R&D Program. His research focuses on tectonics-climate interaction, sediment source‑to‑sink processes, and arid landform development on the Tibetan Plateau and neighbouring areas. He has authored over 150 SCI papers in journals including Nature Geoscience, Science Advances, PNAS, and Nature Communications, and has been repeatedly listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists and China's Best Earth Scientists. He serves on the editorial boards of Science Bulletin, Sedimentary Geology, and Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, and is a Voting Member of the ICS Subcommission on Geochronology.
