Marie Luce Chevalier

Marie-Luce Chevalier is a Research Professor at the Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS) in Beijing, where she has worked since 2010. She holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Liège (Belgium), a M.S. in Geophysics and a Ph.D. in Tectonic-Geomorphology from the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP, France), and completed a Marie Curie-funded postdoc in Paleoclimate at Stanford University. Her research integrates satellite image observation, field geology, LiDAR, UAV-derived DEMs, and cosmogenic (¹⁰Be) dating to understand how active faults shape mountain landscapes and generate earthquakes. She specializes in the active tectonics of the Tibetan Plateau, with expertise on the Karakorum, Xianshuihe, and south Tibetan rifts.
