Santosh Nepal has been working with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) Nepal as an International Researcher – Water Resources and Climate Change since March 2022. He is leading and managing applied research on water resources, water-energy- food-environment (WEFE) nexus, climate resilient system, and nature-based solutions in South Asia. Prior to IWMI, Dr. Nepal worked with the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) as ‘Climate and Hydrology Group Lead’ for about 10 years. In the last 20 years, Dr Nepal has contributed to scientific advancement in Himalayan hydrology, climate change, and water solutions, and also strengthened the water-energy-food and ecosystem nexus in the field. These collaborations have appeared in important scientific publications including Science and Nature. Dr Nepal has PhD in hydrology and climate change from the University of Jena, Germany in 2012. He has two Master's degrees in Environmental Management from Pokhara University and Anthropology in natural resources management from Tribhuvan University.
