Call for Early-Career Editor

To further promote the international influence of Water Cycle, encourage academic exchange for outstanding early career scientists, and offer professional support to Editorial team, we are inviting interested and qualified application for the position of Early-Career Editors (ECE).
There is no fixed limit to the number of ECEs to be appointed; however, a maximum of two ECEs per institution will be accepted. Each term lasts for two years.
Water Cycle offers the following key benefits to ECE:
- A certificate of appointment as an Early-Career Editor will be provided;
- Experience in peer-review will be accumulated;
- Opportunities to receive honors for peer-review work, and a reduction/waiver in publication fees;
- An opportunity to be promoted to Editor based on contributions during the term;
- Opportunities to participate in meetings and seminars, organized by the Editor-in-Chief and other Editorial Board Members.
Eligibility:
- Completed a PhD degree in a relevant field in the past 10 years (exceptions are made for career interruption, including medical and family leave);
- Served as first author on at least 3 peer-reviewed and published manuscripts in Q1 journals of SCI in the field of "water cycle";
- Hold a teaching or research position in the field of "water cycle";
- Interested in journal work and willing to invest time and effort.
The responsibilities of an Early Career Editor include:
- Working as ambassadors for Water Cycle, and publicizing and promoting the journal in academic activities and among peers.
- Review at least 3 articles annually;
- Provide constructive suggestions for the development of journals;
- Invite experts and scholars in the field of "water cycle" to submit papers.

Selection process:
Initial screening of application materials - selected by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board Members - email notification and send the appointment letter – journal website announcement
The appointment is expected to start on 30 September 2025. The selected ECEs’ information will be posted on the Editorial Board webpage and announced through social media networks.
