Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology of Persistent Toxic Substances

Introduction:
Persistent toxic substances (PTS) exhibit toxicity, bioaccumulation and persistence across various environmental matrices. Continuing research on the toxicology, environmental fate, formation mechanisms, control techniques and national policies related to PTS are crucial for achieving reductions in PTS levels and implementing international conventions. Additionally, a growing number of newly identified chemicals are recognized as persistent in the environment and posing risks to human health. Thus, new PTS are identified and added into the international treaties such as Stockholm Convention on POPs. Comprehensive research on the scientific, technical, and policy aspects of PTS is necessary to enhance environmental protection from these harmful substances. This special issue aims to gather the studies of science and technique of emerging PTS. Potential topics include analytical methods, toxicity mechanisms, environmental behavior, human exposures, formation mechanism and control technique of emerging PTS.
