Join the FirePhysChem ‘Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB)’

Are you an early-career researcher passionate about energetic materials, propellants and combustion science? Ready to take your academic journey a step further and help shape the future of a dynamic, interdisciplinary journal?

FirePhysChem invites applications for its Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB). This initiative aims to empower emerging scholars in chemical engineering, combustion science, materials chemistry, and related fields to participate in editorial decision-making, scientific peer review, and strategic journal development.

Eligibility Criteria

We are seeking motivated and qualified individuals who meet the following criteria:

  1. Academic Background
  • Ph.D. in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, aerospace engineering or a closely aligned field.
  • Awarded the Ph.D. between 2 and 7 years prior to application date.
  1. Current Professional Role
  • Applicants must hold a position at a university, research institute, or in industry.
  • Eligible designations include (but are not limited to):
    • Assistant Professor
    • Postdoctoral Researcher
    • Industry Research Scientist
  1. Additional Assets (Preferred but not mandatory)
  • Experience in peer review or scientific writing
  • Active research in energetic materials, combustion kinetics, thermal analysis, or related areas
  • Demonstrated commitment to scholarly publishing ethics

Responsibilities of ECEB Members

Selected members will actively contribute to the editorial and outreach mission of FirePhysChem:

  • Review approximately 10 manuscripts per year, ensuring timely, thorough, and constructive peer feedback.
  • Actively represent and promote the journal at academic conferences, workshops, on social media, and within professional networks.
  • Contribute to the journal by submitting at least one original research article per year as the first or corresponding author.
  • Collaborate with senior editors to propose and develop Special Issues on emerging topics within the journal’s scope.
  • Provide expert input and recommendations to help shape the journal’s editorial strategy, content quality, and visibility.

Recognition & Visibility

  • Selected ECEB members will be featured on the official FirePhysChem editorial webpage.
  • Announcements will be promoted via our social media and partner academic platforms.
  • Outstanding contributors may be considered for future full editorial board membership.
  • You will receive a formal ECEB membership certificate.

Required Documents:

Comprehensive CV (This should detail the applicant’s full name, current affiliation and position, country of residence, and year of Ph.D. completion. It must also include information on editorial or peer-review experience, ORCID or Scopus profile link, and a complete list of publications, patents, awards, research projects, and doctoral supervision (if applicable)).
