Special issue on anesthesiology and perioperative medicine

Anesthesiology is a major part of improving comprehensive medical capabilities. Approximately 314 million people worldwide receive surgical treatment each year. The annual number of operations in China is nearly 70 million, and it is increasing at a rate of 10%. Focusing on the key technical strategies for perioperative safety and mid- and long-term outcome improvement, mechanism of general anesthesia and precision anesthesia, perioperative brain health, pain and comfort medical care, perioperative multi-organ function protection, perioperative big data and artificial intelligence are key scientific issues. One particular challenge is to put forward the basic theory and key technical problems of perioperative safety and outcome improvement. Anesthesiology and perioperative medicine seeks to address these topics via integrated and interdisciplinary approaches.

This special issue calls for critical reviews, perspectives,research articles, and research highlights that contribute to advanced interdisciplinary studies of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. We are particularly interested in, but not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Mechanism of general anesthesia and precision anesthesia
  2. Key progress of anesthesia and perioperative brain health
  3. Perioperative multi-organ function protection
  4. Perioperative pain management
  5. Perioperative big data and artificial intelligence

  • May 1, 2022
