GSC Journal Introduces New Pre-Submission Outline for Review Articles

Published 15 January, 2026

To further strengthen the foundation of review articles published in Green Synthesis and Catalysis (GSC) through early collaboration between authors and editors, the journal now recommends that authors submit a detailed outline for editorial feedback before proceeding with full manuscript preparation.

Ø  A New Opportunity for Authors

Effective immediately, GSC encourages potential contributors to develop and submit a structured outline of their proposed review article to the editorial office before embarking on full manuscript preparation. This outline will be reviewed by our editors or relevant editorial board members, who will provide constructive feedback on the proposed scope, structure, and focus of the review.

Ø  Why Submit an Outline First?

The outline submission process offers several advantages:

Early alignment with journal standards: Authors receive guidance on whether their proposed topic fits the journal's scope and current needs

Strategic focus: Editors can help refine the review's direction to ensure it addresses the most pressing questions in green synthesis and catalysis

Efficiency: Authors avoid investing time in comprehensive literature reviews that may not align with the journal's current priorities

Quality foundation: The process helps establish a solid structural framework before the demanding process of full manuscript preparation begins

Ø  Submission Outline Requirements

  1. Authors should prepare a document of up to two pages containing:
  2. Proposed title and Author's information (required)
  3. Central thesis or objective of the review (required, 1-2 sentences)
  4. Brief background justifying the need for this review (required, 1-2 sentences)
  5. Key sections and subsections with brief descriptions (required)
  6. Expected conclusion or take-home message (required)
  7. Description of the review methodology (comprehensive vs. selective approach)
  8. Key papers or discoveries likely to be discussed
  9. Target audience within the green chemistry community

Ø  The Bigger Picture: Quality Enhancement at GSC

This new outline recommendation is part of GSC's broader commitment to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly excellence. As an international journal dedicated to green synthesis and catalysis, GSC recognizes the particular importance of review articles in synthesizing existing knowledge and identifying future research directions.

Ø  Submission Process

Authors should email their outlines directly to the editorial office at tangbo198908@163.com, with "Review Outline" included in the subject line. The editorial team aims to provide feedback within 10-14 business days. Following outline approval, authors will receive specific guidance on preparing their full manuscripts according to GSC's formal guidelines.

This new outline recommendation reflects GSC's commitment to supporting authors throughout the publication process while maintaining the journal's growing reputation for excellence, evidenced by its current CiteScore of 12.6.
