Call for Young Editorial Board Members: iOptics

iOptics is an international open-access English journal focusing on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Optics. It is sponsored by the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The journal is led by Editors-in-Chief Academician Jianyu Wang, Professor Xiaopeng Shao, and Professor Xinbo Gao, with Executive Editors-in-Chief Professor Jianying Zhou and Professor Olivier J.F. Martin.

Launched in July 2025iOptics was selected for the High-Starting-Point New Journal Project under Phase II of China's Excellence in Science and Technology Journals Action Plan in December 2025 and is now indexed in the Astrophysics Data System (ADS).

iOptics is dedicated to publishing high-quality research in foundational studies, technological innovations, and applications within the "AI + Optics" interdisciplinary field, aiming to foster a leading platform for academic exchange and promote the advancement of the discipline.

Article Types: Review, Research, Editorial, Perspective, Report, and News & Views.Scope: AI Optical Imaging, AI Optoelectronic Integration, AI Optical Communication, AI Optical Computing, AI Optical Design and Manufacturing, AI Optical Information Processing, and Emerging AI-Optics Technologies and Innovations, etc.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Under 45 years of age;
  • Hold a doctoral degree;
  • Have published high-quality academic papers as first or corresponding author in relevant fields within the past three years;
  • Rigorous in academic research - international journal editorial board/reviewer experience preferred;
  • Strong interest in academic publishing and a willingness to be devoted to journal construction.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and solicit high-quality manuscripts in relevant fields;
  • Publish at least one high-level paper in iOptics as first or corresponding author during the term;
  • Provide academic support by undertaking peer-review assignments as invited;
  • Attend Young Editorial Board meetings and related academic events;
  • Actively promote iOptics at academic conferences and professional activities.
