Virtual Special Issue on Economics and Management Empowered by Data Science

Published 06 February, 2026

Introduction:

The rapid development of data science methods such as big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical inference is reshaping the theoretical paradigms, analytical tools, and application paths of economic and management research. Data-driven research has demonstrated significant academic value and broad application prospects in multiple management fields, including macroeconomic analysis, corporate decision-making, financial risk management, operations and supply chain management, platform economy, and digital governance. Research in relevant fields not only helps improve the characterization and predictive capabilities of complex economic management systems but also provides new theoretical foundations and technical means for scientific decision-making in uncertain environments. At the same time, the interdisciplinary integration between statistics, computer science, and economics and management is deepening, forming a series of cutting-edge research directions with significant theoretical and practical value. To promote the deep integration of data-driven research paradigms with a focus on management science, the 'Journal of Management Science and Engineering' is inviting contributions from scholars both domestically and internationally on the theme of "Economics and Management Empowered by Data Science".

The call for papers on this theme will focus on:

(1)  Research on data science theory, statistical computing and optimization, econometric models and methods based on management and economic practice issues, with particular attention to the supporting role and practical value of these theoretical and methodological innovations for real management and economic issues;

 (2) Encouraging studies that use new data, new methods or new models to explore management and economic science, and clearly demonstrating their contributions to overcoming existing research limitations, deepening the understanding of knowledge in related fields and promoting knowledge innovation in the field.
