Jakub is involved in the development of methods and models for risk assessment in maritime transport systems (MST) and contributes to the development of the concept of risk-based design and operation of these systems and their components. In doing so, he draws on the experience he has gained during his many years of service on board seagoing vessels as an officer at operational and management level. Author or co-author of more than 150 scientific publications in prestigious journals, contractor and leader of several scientific projects selected in international competitions; visiting or adjunct professor at foreign universities Aalto University (Finland), TallTech (Estonia), Wuhan University of Technology (China).
Since 2021, he has been employed at the Faculty of Mechanical and Marine Engineering, where he is responsible for the development of the Transport and Logistics degree programme as Head of Department and has, among other things, co-created the Work-Life Balance course for students of the Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk. President of the Waterborne Transport Innovation Foundation, which conducts scientific research in the field of safety and risk at MST.
