Michael Siegrist is a Professor for Consumer Behavior at the Institute for Environmental Decisions (IED), ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He studied psychology, economics and mass communication at the University of Zurich. In 1994 he wrote his dissertation at the University of Zurich. Professor Siegrist holds a variety of positions on national and international expert and scientific advisory committees. His research focuses on risk perception and risk communication, on acceptance of new technologies, and consumer behavior in the food domain. He has published more than 400 peer reviewed articles. Prof. Siegrist is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (awarded to the top 0.1% of globally cited scientists in the Web of Science™). He also received the award as a Distinguished Educator in Recognition of Exceptional Contributions to the Field of Risk Analysis of the Society for Risk Analysis (2015) and he received the Fellow Award 2012 of the Society in recognition of outstanding contributions to the profession of Risk Analysis.
