The Lignin Journal is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the study of lignin, its isolation, characterization, and various applications. Lignin, a key biopolymer in plants, has gained increasing attention for its potential in a wide range of industrial and environmental applications. The journal aims to advance the understanding of lignin's properties, its extraction, characterization, and its applications in wood processing, sustainability, and bioresource utilization. The journal welcomes original research, review articles, and methodological papers that advance our understanding of lignin across different disciplines, including chemistry, material science, biotechnology, and environmental science.

Key topics include, but are not limited to:

· Isolation and Characterization: New methods for the efficient extraction, purification, and characterization of lignin from wood and other biomass sources.

· Biomass Processing and Lignin: Lignin’s role in biomass processing technologies such as pulping, papermaking, and wood composites. Research on lignins impact on the quality and properties of biomass products, including the development of new methods for lignin removal or modification during biomass processing.

· Lignin Chemistry: Chemical modifications of lignin, including depolymerization, functionalization, and lignin derivatives for advanced materials and chemicals.

· Lignin in Biorefinery: The role of lignin in integrated biorefinery systems, including its conversion into biofuels, biochemicals, and other renewable resources.

· Lignin-based Materials: Development of lignin-based materials for diverse applications such as bioplastics, adhesives, composites, and coatings.

· Biological and Enzymatic Conversion: Advances in the biological transformation of lignin through enzymatic processes and the development of lignin-degrading microorganisms.

· Lignin in Environmental Applications: Use of lignin in environmental technologies such as water treatment, carbon capture, and renewable energy systems.

· Sustainable Use of Lignin: Exploration of lignin's potential to contribute to the circular bioeconomy and sustainable production practices.
