Special Issue on Phage Therapy and Beyond

A Special Issue on “Phage Therapy and Beyond” has been launched in Virologica Sinica, celebrating the 110th Anniversary of Phage Therapy (1917–2027).

Since formally named and therapeutically exploited by Félix d'Hérelle in 1917, bacteriophages have opened a unique avenue for the control and elimination of pathogenic bacteria. Currently, global phage therapy research has entered a stage of rapid development, yet key challenges remain—particularly in host-phage interactions, phage immunity, pharmacokinetics, and the underutilized diversity of phages.

This special issue aims to honor the legacy of phage discovery while showcasing cutting-edge advances across clinical therapy, resistance, structure, genomics, and phage-encoded enzymes.
