Special Issue on Health Promotion and Prevention for Women and Children: Strategies for Strengthening Health, Quality of Life, and Well-Being Across the Life Course

Introduction:

Health promotion and disease prevention are fundamental pillars for improving the health and well-being of women, children, and families across the life course. As healthcare systems face growing challenges related to chronic conditions, mental health concerns, social inequalities, and demographic changes, there is an increasing need for innovative, evidence-based strategies that move beyond disease treatment and focus on strengthening health and well-being.

This Special Issue seeks to advance knowledge on effective approaches that enhance health, quality of life, resilience, and positive health outcomes among women and children in diverse settings. We welcome contributions that explore health-promoting and preventive interventions across the continuum of care, from preconception and pregnancy to childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and healthy ageing.

Particular attention will be given to research examining health assets, family and community resources, health literacy, empowerment, healthy lifestyles, mental well-being, and strategies for reducing health inequities. Interdisciplinary studies, innovative nursing practices, community-based initiatives, and policy-oriented research are especially encouraged.

By bringing together international perspectives and high-quality evidence, this Special Issue aims to support the development of sustainable, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches that foster lifelong health and well-being for women, children, and their families.

• Health equity, social determinants of health, and vulnerable populations
• Evidence-based and innovation health promotion interventions
• Policies and programs supporting women's and children's health
