Sun Joseph Chang have been a professor of forest management, economics, and policy at the School of Renewable Natural Resources, Louisiana State University since 1991. His current research focuses on the applications of real options and timber insurance to outsource risk and uncertainty inherent in forestry and the impact of their incorporations in the generalized Faustmann formula on the land expectation value and the optimal harvest age.
