Special issue on extreme weather and climate events: variations, mechanisms and projections

Published 15 November, 2021

Changes are occurring throughout the Earth’s climate system. Extreme weather and climate events have become more intensive, widespread and unprecedented in recent years. Increases in health risks, deaths and economic losses due to heat waves, heavy rainfall and droughts, have received much attention in society. Advancing our understanding of these changes, their causes, and improving our ability to predict them, are basic but crucial steps towards improving mitigation and adaptation strategies.

This special issue welcomes research on variations, mechanisms and projections in extreme weather and climate events.

Potential topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Variations and impact of extreme weather and climate events
  • Mechanisms responsible for the formation and variability of extreme weather and climate events
  • Projections on future changes in extreme weather and climate events

Important dates:

  • Deadline for submission:  31 March 2022
