Emergency management in the era of big data and artificial intelligence

Introduction: 

Emergency management is an essential ingredient of the national governance systems and capacity that take responsibility for risk prevention, emergency disposal, life and property safety, and social stability maintenance. Promoting emergency management systems and capacity enhancement is becoming an essential issue in academia and industry. In the era of big data and artificial intelligence, the new generation of information technology, e.g., 5G and blockchain, brings broad prospects for improvements to emergency management capacity. Emerging technologies can not only enhance emergency management scientifically, professionally and intelligently, but can also deepen the integration of digital intelligence technology and emergency management services.

For this special issue, we invite researchers from academia and industry to discuss the topic of combining digital technologies and emergency management, both theories and applications, under various emergency management scenarios. All types of research related to digital technologies and emergency management are welcomed, including conceptual, theoretical, analytical and/or empirical research.
