The increasing share of variable renewable energy sources, strict targets set for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the requirements for improvement of system security and reliability are calling for essential changes in our energy systems. The research of advanced energy infrastructure has become increasingly urgent. Microgrids are essential infrastructure for realizing distributed energy, a decentralized power source. Also, microgrids promote the people’s lives by supplying electricity and closely linking information, mobility, living, health, and financial infrastructure. Unless we focus on renewable energy, we cannot avoid the greatest risks of climate change for humankind. At the center of this is the economic and social ecosystem created by the microgrid, which will be essential to the Community of Common Destiny.

We would like to invite scholars in the areas of distributed energy, microgrid, renewable energy, smart grid, and other areas to contribute papers to our special issue on distributed energy and microgrid.

Topics:

  • Operation and control technology of microgrid
  • Microgrid system planning and design technology
  • Microgrid networking form and operation control technology
  • Equipment and operation control technology of AC/DC hybrid microgrid
