Special Issue on Food System Transitions for Human and Planetary Health

Published 22 November, 2023

Food systems are profoundly linked to individual health, environmental health, and public health outcomes. Standing at the crossroads of global health crises and environmental degradation, we must chart a new course for our food systems—one that is guided by both human well-being and planetary health in the long run.

This special issue explores the challenges, solutions, and research directions that define this transition. We encourage dialogues across disciplines and a range of topics, and welcome studies that provide actionable insights into advancing food system transitions and enhancing global well-being. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Food System and One Health
  • Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies in Food Systems
  • Food Safety and Foodborne Diseases
  • Food Security and Access
  • Technological Innovations for Healthier Food Systems
  • Alternative Proteins for Health and Sustainability
