Advancing Infectious Disease Modelling to Inform Health Decision-Making in low- and middle-income countries.

Infectious Disease Modelling invites researchers, practitioners and policymakers to contribute to a special issue focused on advancing infectious disease modelling and its application to health policy in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). As the organising committee members of the inaugural Infectious Disease Modelling Conference (https://idmconference.net/), the guest editors are committed to supporting studies that advance infectious disease modelling and enhance pandemic preparedness. We aim to accelerate research, develop novel strategies, and foster knowledge exchange to address modelling challenges, especially those faced by LMICs.

Topics covered:

• Modelling about the emergence and re-emergence of epidemics and pandemics in LMICs
• Pandemic preparedness and application of infectious disease modelling in LMICs
• Modelling neglected tropical diseases and one health approaches for LMIC contexts
• Modelling and analytics on infectious disease surveillance data specific to LMICs
• Intervention considering resource constraints and policy supported by modelling in LMICs
• Case studies of application of infectious disease modelling in LMICs
• Challenges and strategies in translating modelling research to support health decision-making in LMICs
• Building local capacity in infectious disease modelling and fostering collaboration between researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and communities in LMICs
• Ethical considerations related to infectious disease modelling, including privacy concerns, informed consent, and equity in access to healthcare interventions in LMICs
• Strengthening health systems in LMICs through the use of infectious disease modelling
