Special Issue on Blockchain and Web3.0

Published 11 June, 2025

Introduction:

With the rapid advancement of blockchain technology and Web 3.0, decentralized trust architectures, smart contracts, and distributed data sovereignty are reshaping the internet ecosystem and business models across various industries. Nonetheless, the practical deployment and widespread adoption of blockchain and Web 3.0 continue to face significant challenges. These include performance bottlenecks, privacy-protection issues, smart-contract vulnerabilities, cross-chain security risks, governance complexities, and regulatory hurdles.

To enable the further development and broader application of blockchain and web 3.0, it is crucial to conduct in-depth research on related technologies, application scenarios, and security mechanisms.

This special section aims to serve as a platform for publishing the most advanced original and innovative research results across all areas related to blockchain and Web3.0. The Journal of Electronic Science and Technology (JEST) strives to capture the latest trends within the domain of these fields, exploring the evolving landscape of their scientific and technological aspects, and providing a forum for scientists and engineers to discuss and exchange academic insights.

JEST plans to publish this special section on blockchain and Web3.0 regularly. We welcome the submission of both research articles and review articles that highlight recent breakthroughs in research outcomes and industrial implementations. Submissions that propose innovative approaches to overcome the prevailing obstacles in blockchain and Web 3.0 are particularly encouraged.

Potential topics include, but not limited to:

  • Issues of security and privacy surrounding Blockchain and Web 3.0 technology
  • Performance optimization of Blockchain systems
  • Integration of Blockchain with other emerging technologies
  • Cryptocurrency theories, methods and applications
  • Incentive and consensus mechanisms for Blockchain and Web3.0
  • Identity and reputation management system for Blockchain and Web3.0
  • Applications and Case Study.

This is an ongoing call for papers. Following submission, the review process for the Initial Review Comments Notification takes about one month. Authors are then given up to one month to submit their revisions. Accepted papers are published in the article-based publishing (ABP) format on ScienceDirect — meaning that once the paper is accepted in the Editorial Manager system, it will be published online with a DOI, volume number, issue number, and article number.

Benefits and Responsibilities of Authors:

♦ Rapid peer-review process: Initial review feedback provided within approximately 30 days.

♦ Free and open access: Accepted papers will be published at no cost to authors and are freely accessible to readers.

♦ Targeted visibility: Your paper will be featured in an email alert sent to over 10,000 scholars in related fields.

♦ Wider promotion: Articles are promoted via TrendMD across leading platforms including ScienceDirect, Springer, IEEE Xplore, Nature, Science, PNAS, and more.

♦ Copyright agreement” All authors must sign the JEST Copyright Agreement available for download here.

JEST (ISSN 1674-862X) is a peer-reviewed periodical, open access on ScienceDirect, indexed by Ei Compendex, INSPEC, and Scopus, and also included in CA, CSCD, DOAJ, Science paper Online, etc.
