Markus Dann, University of Calgary, Canada
Markus Dann is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary in Canada. Prior to this position, he was a reliability engineer at Chevron's Energy Technology Company in Aberdeen (UK) and his role was to work on inspection and maintenance planning for upstream and offshore pipelines. Specializing in structural engineering, he received his PhD from the University of Calgary in 2012 after completing a BSc at the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany) in 2007. Markus? research and teaching interests are engineering risk assessment, uncertainty quantification, and Bayesian probability modeling. Application areas include risk and reliability-informed inspection and maintenance planning for pipelines and aging infrastructure systems, stochastic deterioration modeling, uncertainty quantification of structural health monitoring, and consequence analysis of pipeline failures. Markus has won several teaching excellence and early-career research awards.
